Trusted Contact Person

In 2022, the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) added a provision which allows all clients to name a “Trusted Contact Person” (TCP) to their portfolio accounts.

A Trusted Contact Person (TCP) is someone you can designate as an emergency contact in case of fraud, identity theft, financial exploitation, or health concerns.

A TCP does not have access to your account(s), nor the ability to make transactions or any financial decisions on your behalf.

A TCP would be contacted if, for whatever reason, we were unable to reach you or if there were signs of financial exploitation. In instances like these, your TCP could, at their discretion, provide us with information in order to intervene with you, or to procure any emergency assistance.

Naming a TCP is optional and recommended. If you would like to designate a Trusted Contact Person to your accounts here, we recommend choosing someone you wholly trust, who you communicate with on a regular basis, who you would be comfortable with if they needed to speak with your financial advisor, and who is unbiased and is uninvolved in your financial affairs.

Please consider naming a Trusted Contact Person to your portfolio accounts. If you would like to do so, please let us know and we will provide you with instructions. We would also encourage you to inform your TCP that you have named them, and to outline your wishes/expectations should any issues arise in the future.

Your comfort in what we do for you is most important.
